Marvelous, Kadokawa, and Otomate opened a website on Friday to announce that their Sengoku Night Blood smartphone game is getting a stage play adaptation. The play will debut in August 2018.
The stage play stars:
Ikkei Yamamoto as Maeda Toshiie
Yoshihiko Aramaki as Uesugi Kagekatsu
Both actors are reprising the roles from the game and anime.
The iOS and Android game launched in Japan on May 30. The game centers around different warlords from Japan's Warring States (Sengoku) period, who are all involved with the player character. The game is described as a "Warring States romance fantasy." Each of the six factions in the game feature a different Otomate artist.
Original character designers for the game include Usaba Kagero (Wand of Fortune) for the Oda Army, Mai Hanamura (Amnesia) for the Toyotomi Army, Shikisakigumi (Hakuōki) for the Uesugi Army, miko (Code:Realize) for the Takeda Army, Kuroyuki (Period:Cube) for the Sanada Army, and Teita (Norn9) for the Date Army.
The story focuses on Yuzuki, a girl whose cell phone transports her into another world that almost resembles Japan's Warring States Period, but is actually another world that has vampires and werewolves.
The game inspired an ongoing anime adaptation that premiered on October 3, and will have 12 episodes. Crunchyroll is streamingthe series as it airs.
