The 2018 combined second and third issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Monday that the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations anime will adapt the Naruto manga side story chapter "Michita Tsuki ga Terasu Michi" ("Naruto: The Path Lit by the Full Moon"), which shows the past of the character Mitsuki. The episode will air on December 27.
Original Naruto manga creator Masashi Kishimoto drew the chapter, which Shueisha published in Weekly Shonen Jump in April 2016. Viz Media published the chapter simultaneously in English. The Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga debuted one week later.
The Boruto: Naruto Next Generations television anime series premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo on April 5. Viz Media is simulcasting the series on Hulu as it airs in Japan, with new episodes every Wednesday. Crunchyroll is also streaming the anime.
Game Jikkyōsha Wakuwaku Band will perform a new ending theme song for the anime.
